I was apalled this morning when the Today show televised a cesarean birth. The first time mother was having a c-section because they suspected a large baby. Never once in the story did they mention the possibility of this mother being able to deliver natuarlly. Every procedure and action taken was followed by the comentators remarks "this is totally routine for a birth". I almost cried as I watched that poor new born lay on an exam table with no one holding him or welcoming him to the world.
As I was looking up the link I noticed, on their front page an article discussing the rise in elective c-sections. How ironic.
